The Eldorado Eagles baseball team is 6-3 in non-district play. They opened the 2020 season on Monday, February 24th and posted wins over Harper’s varsity and JV squads, San Antonio Cole, Sonora, and a pair of wins over Texas Leadership Charter Academy (TLCA) while dropping games to Sonora, Harper and the Marble Falls JV. They also placed third in the Sonora Tournament.

The Eldorado Powerlifting program advanced eight lifters to the upcoming Regional powerlifting meets.

The Lady Eagles claimed impressive wins over Grape Creek, Junction and the Texas Leadership Academy (TLCA) while dropping a game to Sonora as they opened the 2020 season with a 5-2 record.

Eldorado Lady Eagles Powerlifters placed 3rd place over all at the Eldorado Invitational Powerlifting Meet, Saturday, February 15th in Eagle Gym. Eldorado had sixteen Lady Eagle lifters.

The University Interscholastic League announced its biennial realignment of football and basketball districts on Monday, February 3rd, pleasing both the EHS coaching staff and school administrators.

Post-season honors continue to accumulate for the Eldorado Eagles football team as the team, and its coach, claimed nine spots on the All-West Texas Football Team

Emiliano “Big E” Hernandez was named to the Associated Press 2A All-State Football Team as a First-Team Offensive Lineman. Also earning post-season honors were senior quarterback Kevan Covarrubiaz and his brother, sophomore receiver Korbin Covarrubiaz.

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) of Texas announced its conference enrollment numbers on Tuesday, December 3rd. The numbers give SCISD officials their first look at area high school classifications. It is also an early glimpse of how the UIL conference realignment might affect Eldorado High School.

The 8-2A All-District team was announced this week, following Eldorado and Christoval’s elimination from the State 2A Playoffs. And, once again this year, the Eldorado Eagles dominate the list of honors.

The Eldorado Eagles win over Haskell last Friday night placed this year’s team in the history books, alongside those from 1937 and 1950. The three teams are the only ones in the 97-year history of the Eldorado Eagles football program to win 10 games in a single season. Each of the three seasons was remarkable, but for different reasons.

The Eldorado Eagles will face the Wheeler Mustangs in the Area Round of the State 2A Playoffs following their 30-14 defeat of the Haskell Indians on Friday, November 15th at San Angelo Stadium.

The Eldorado Eagles defeated the Christoval Cougars 14-7 Friday, November 8th to claim the District 8-2A Championship. The Eagles have relied on their high-octane offense all season long, but Friday night it was the team’s swarming defense that won the day. Cougar quarterback Brayden Wilcox found himself having to scramble and throw on the run all night, resulting in four interceptions.

Texas high school football playoffs are often referred to as the second season. Everything starts anew and nothing that happened in the regular season matters. The only thing that counts now is the opponent who lines up opposite you. It’s do or die football and it’s winner take all.

The Eldorado Eagles defeated the Christoval Cougars 14-7 Friday night to claim the District 8-2A Championship.

The Eldorado Eagles will host the Christoval Cougars Friday night as the two teams meet to decide the District 8-2A Championship. Both teams are undefeated in district play, and they have each clinched a playoff berth. Friday night’s game is about more than bragging rights, though. The game will decide who the two teams will face in the opening round of the State 2A Playoffs. The winner will take on the fourth place team from District 7-2A, while the loser will face the third place team.

EHS freshman Jessica Garcia will travel to the State UIL Cross Country Meet in Round Rock on Saturday, November 9th. She will be competing against 2A runners from across the state. The course is located east of Round Rock at Old Settlers Park where the terrain is similar to the course in Lubbock where the Regional Meet was held.

Santiago Hernandez carried the ball for 59 yards and two touchdowns on Friday, October 18th as the Eldorado Eagles overpowered the Rocksprings Angoras 42-0 and improved their season record to 7-1.
