Eldorado High School will be competing in football in District 5-2A Division II next year. The news came Wednesday, February 3rd when the University Interscholastic League announced its biennial realignment.

The Eldorado High School Eagles football team was named this week as a state finalist for the 2021-22 National Football Foundation High School Academic Excellence Award.

Eldorado Lady Eagles lifters won their second team championship of 2022 at the Eldorado Invitational Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, January 22nd, in Eagle Gym.

Eldorado Lady Eagles Powerlifters opened the 2022 season with a first place finish at the Steer Invitational in Big Spring on Saturday, January 8th.

Jessica Garcia of Eldorado is one of 24 cross country runner selected as an All-Star runner from among thousands of runners competing in UIL Conference 1-2-3-4A.

With the Eldorado Eagles loss to Falls City in the Regional Semi-Final game last Friday, the final team from District 14-2A was eliminated from the State 2A Playoffs. That means the 14-2A All-District team can be announced.

The Eldorado Eagles 2021 football season ended in Cedar Park last Friday as they fell to the Falls City Beavers 50-26 at John Gupton Stadium.

The Eldorado Eagles football team defeated the D’Hanis Cowboys 27-14 on Friday, November 19th at Walter Leavermann Stadium in Del Rio to claim the Area Championship. The win represents only the third time in team history that an Eagles team has won in the second round of the playoffs. Eagles squads won two playoff games in 1937 and 1950, but neither of those could advance to the third round since the playoffs of that era didn’t continue beyond that level.

In football there are rallies, there are comebacks, and there are come-from-behind wins. Rarely, however, do fans get to see a team overcome a 20-point deficit in the final quarter. Even more rarely does it happen when there’s a gold football on the line.

Korbin Covarrubiaz threw for five touchdowns and ran for another as the Eldorado Eagles defeated the Junction Eagles 56-14 on Friday, November 5th at Larry Mitchel Stadium in Eldorado.

The Eldorado Eagles did not run a single offensive play in the first quarter of their game with Menard last Friday. Still, the Warbirds led 6-0 as the second quarter began on the strength of a punt return that Cooper Meador took 84 yards to pay dirt.

Jessica Garcia, a junior at Eldorado High School, will be making her third trip to the State UIL Cross County Meet at Old Settler Park in Round Rock, on Saturday, November 6th.

Christoval’s Jack Pardee Memorial Stadium was filled to the brim last Friday night and the standing room only crowd lined the fence around the football field, many of them sitting in camp chairs they brought to the game. The fans, at least half of which were from Eldorado, came to see the Eldorado Eagles and the Christoval Cougars battle for supremacy in District 14-2A.

The Eldorado Eagles defeated the Rocksprings Angoras 53-6 on Friday, October 15th at Larry Mitchel Stadium. Eldorado was heavily favored to win but found itself in a battle early in the game.

The Eldorado Eagles opened the District 14-2A schedule with a 64-14 win over the Miles Bulldogs on Friday, October 8th at Gary Krejci Stadium in Miles.

Three Eldorado Eagles football players have earned the Built Ford Tough Award. The first was Wes Brown in 2009. The second was Kevan Covarrubiaz in 2019. The third was the Eagles current quarterback, EHS senior Korbin Covarrubiaz. Korbin and his older brother Kevan are the first pair of brothers to ever receive the award.

The Schleicher County ISD board of trustees met Monday, October 11th and approved a budget amendment to account for the fact that expenditures for things such as electrical power, are being made with grant funds received through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER).

The Eldorado Eagles defeated the Sonora Broncos 48-26 in front of a standing-room-only Homecoming crowd on Friday, September 24th at Larry Mitchel Stadium in Eldorado. Those in attendance also saw EHS seniors Jonathan McGee and Yatzari Narvaez crowned as the 2021 EHS Homecoming King and Queen during a ceremony held just before the two teams took the field.
