William Lynn Parker, affectionately known as Lynn, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Born October 1, 1948, in Longview, Texas, to William Huey Parker and Mary Nell Rains Parker, Lynn lived a life defined by determination, perseverance, love, laughter, and friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Lynn learned the meaning of independence and hard work at a young age. Living largely on his own from the age of 16, he faced challenges that might have discouraged others. Instead, he chose to make something of himself. He believed in personal growth, hard work, and never allowing circumstances to determine what he could accomplish. He was a self-motivated man who continually sought to learn, improve, and build a better future.
After graduating from Lufkin High School in Lufkin, Texas, Lynn attended Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches.
In 1968, Lynn began his service in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country until 1976. During those eight years, his assignments included Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc, California, Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City, South Dakota, and Pleiku, Vietnam.
He was also stationed at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he worked with the university’s Corps of Cadets.
Lynn was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant, completing eight years of dedicated service to his country.
On November 11, 1967, Lynn married the love of his life, Susan Kay Treadaway, in Lufkin, Texas. Together, they shared nearly 59 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, friendships, and countless cherished memories.
For a young man who had spent much of his teenage years making his own way in the world, meeting Susan marked the beginning of a new chapter. From that point forward, they faced life’s adventures and challenges together, creating a home where family and friends were always welcome.
Lynn enjoyed a successful 35-year career in the oilfield industry, beginning as an equipment operator for The Western Company of North America in Bryan, Texas. Through hard work, determination, and an extraordinary ability to lead others, he advanced to become Regional Operations and Sales Manager for Trican Oil Services in Fort Worth, Texas, before retiring.
But Lynn’s career was about far more than titles and promotions. He was a natural leader, a mentor, and the person everyone turned to when something needed fixing. Throughout his years with The Western Company, he developed a reputation for walking into struggling operations, bringing order to the chaos, and leaving them better than he found them. Wherever Lynn went, success seemed to follow, and so did the people who wanted to work alongside him.
People naturally gravitated toward Lynn. He had a way of bringing out the best in others, earning their respect while making even the hardest days enjoyable. He believed in helping people succeed, and many who worked with him became lifelong friends.
Friendship was one of the great constants in Lynn’s life. The friendships he formed as a young boy remained strong throughout his lifetime, just as those he developed during his years with The Western Company endured for decades. Many of those friends remained close to him until the very end. Once you were Lynn’s friend, you were his friend for life.
Lynn was a man of faith and a longtime member of Baptist churches. He was active at First Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas, until his health prevented him from attending.
Outside of work, Lynn enjoyed playing golf, spending time with family and friends, and driving “Harley” (his BMW convertible). Whether heading to the golf course, visiting the casino, or simply enjoying a drive around town, Lynn knew how to enjoy life.
He loved entertaining and welcoming people into the Parker home, where there was always laughter, conversation, good food, and room for one more. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor, his stories, and the nicknames he gave to those around him.
Above all, Lynn treasured his family. As a father, he was loving, protective, and sometimes tough as nails. He expected his children to give their very best because he wanted them to have every opportunity to succeed. He taught strength, independence, responsibility, and perseverance by example.
Lynn is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Kay Parker, and their children and families:

Although the final years of Lynn’s life brought difficult challenges, those years do not define the man he was. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, free from suffering, and resting in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
Lynn will be remembered for the life he built through determination, the family he loved so deeply, the friendships he cherished, and the laughter he brought to everyone around him.
A life built through determination. A family built through love. And a legacy filled with laughter that will never be forgotten.
