David Owen Davis went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 23, at the Clarendon Nursing Home in Clarendon, Texas.
Cremation and arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
David was born as David Lee Hoser in Cuero, Texas, on August 23, 1955, to Ruben “Sonny” Hoser Jr. and Earlene Fay Hoser. When David was six, his siblings were placed for adoption, and he stayed with his grandfather, Ruben Hoser Sr., whom he affectionately called “Pawpaw.” After Pawpaw’s death, David was adopted by Owen Louis and Louise Eve Davis.
David worked at a tire shop and drove a tire service truck in Cuero. He also lived in Victoria, where he worked at the Victoria Country Club golf course. In 1992, David and his birth family were reunited in Eldorado, Texas, after 30 years of separation. In 2016, David moved to Eldorado to be close to his sister Lori and brother-in-law “Mr. Rick” Stricklan, whom he dearly loved and greatly appreciated.
David loved the Lord and was a member of Community Baptist in Eldorado. He enjoyed making people laugh more than anything, and some would affectionately say, “David was a real jokester.”
David is survived by his sisters, Lori and husband Rick Stricklan, Lisa Gilmore, Connie and husband Jim Troutfetter; and his brothers, Chris Treptow, James and wife Brandy Schmitt.
David’s family expresses great appreciation to the Clarendon Nursing Home staff and the BSA Hospice team for their excellent care of David.
David’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at a later date, with final interment in the Eldorado Cemetery in Eldorado, Texas.
