The number of Monarch butterflies is down once again this year, following a trend that has seen declining numbers of the colorful creature over the past decade, says a Texas A&M University Monarch butterfly advocate. Craig Wilson, director of the USDA Future Scientists Program and senior research associate in the Center for Mathematics and Science Education and longtime butterfly enthusiast, says early figures show fewer Monarch numbers for 2018. Early estimates show that their numbers are down almost 15 percent from a year ago in the breeding grounds in Mexico.

Prinary Election Day is Tuesday, March 6th. Due to the District Court trial being held in the main room of the Memorial Building, voting for Precinct 2 will be in the former Elections Office on the stage area.

The National Weather Service (NWS) encourages all residents, businesses and schools across West Central Texas to practice a tornado drill on Wednesday, March 7th at 10 a.m. The NWS in San Angelo will transmit a routine weekly test message through the Emergency Alert System (EAS) at that time.
