Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a public health emergency last week, forcing the closure of restaurants and bars across the state. He also prohibited public gatherings of more than 10 people in an attempt to limit the spread of the COVID-19/Coronavirus.

The governor’s declaration was soon mirrored by local jurisdictions across the state. Schleicher County Judge Charlie Bradley issued his own order on Thursday, March 19th. Schleicher County Commissioners voted to extend it by a week, when they met on Monday.
Schleicher County Medical Center Administrator Paul Burke explained on Wednesday, March 25th, that there has yet to be a confirmed case of COVID-19 /Coronavirus in Schleicher County and said he is not aware of any non-confirmed cases.
A confirmed case of Coronavirus was reported by Shannon Hospital in San Angelo on Tuesday, March 24th. Meanwhile, a suspected case in Sonora was submitted for a laboratory test. That test was reported on Tuesday to be negative.
