Eldorado firefighters were pressed into service again early Tuesday evening when a fast-developing fire was reported on the Mada Ranch on County Road 320.

Strong northeast winds drove the blaze to the south and west as fire crews from Eldorado, Christoval, Fort McKavett and Wall responded to the call. Also joining the battle were units from the Texas Forest Service. By 4:30 am on Wednesday, July 24th, all local fire crews had returned to base with Texas Forest Service personnel remaining on scene as a fire guard.

Assistant Fire Chief T.J. Rodriguez offered an initial estimate of 1,500 acres claimed in the fire.
