Summer is far from over, but the first suggestion of fall comes on Monday, August 1st when the Eldorado Eagles football team and cross country runners report for their first workouts.

Chad Tutle, the SCISD athletic director and head football coach explained on Tuesday that the 2022 Eagles football team will report for two-a-day workouts on Monday.

The Eagles are looking to continue the winning ways the team established over the past four years. Last year’s team made Eldorado’s deepest ever playoff run before losing to Falls City in the Regional semi-final round of the State 2A Playoffs.

Tutle coached at Iraan, Winters, Sonora and Coahoma before coming to Eldorado, making him more that familiar with the talent available to him here.

“I’m looking forward to the season and carrying on the winning tradition,” Tutle said.

There will be a pair of scrimmages to begin the season as the Eagles tune up for the real action that begins in Christoval at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 26th.

The Eagles then alternate home and away as they face Winters, Sonora and San Saba.

A complete schedule of the Eagles regular season games appears below.

For her part, Coach Kelsey Filmon said her cross-country runners will also report for training on Monday when they begin running from 8-9 p.m.

Filmon is assisted this year by Abby Ramos and Richard Ramsey.

EHS will host the first cross-country meet of the season on August 24th followed by meets in: Crane -9/3; Ozona - 9/10; Lubbock 9/11; Miles 9/21; Round Rock 9/23; Ballinger - 10/5; District in Ozona - TBA; Regional in Lubbock 10/24; and State in Round Rock on 11/4.
