The Eldorado Eagles won their first district game on Friday, January 8th, defeating the Fort Hancock Mustangs 64-39 at Eagle Gym.

Korbin Covarrubiaz was top scorer for the Warbirds with 27 points, including 13 field goals. He also tallied four steals and four assists.

The Eagles snagged 52 rebounds in the game with Covarrubiaz pulling down 13 rebounds, Aidan Dennis 12 and Damien Romo with nine.
Aidan Dennis notched up 15 points. He tallied three steals and an assist.

Kaden Gonzalez scored 8 points for the Eagles, including a 3-pointer goal and 3 points from the free throw line. Damien Romo counted for 5 points in the game, including two field goals and a point from the charity stripe. Romo also stole the ball twice and had five assists.

David Barajas hit for 4 points and had five assists. Nino Tambunga tallied 3 points, five assists and a steal. Braxton Elias scored 2 points and stole the ball once.

Cougars 43 - Eagles 28

The Eldorado Eagles fell to Christoval 28-43 in Christoval on Tuesday, January 12th.

Korbin Covarrubiaz led the Eagles in scoring with 11 points, including three from the free throw line. He also tallied three rebounds, four steals and an assist.

David Barajas counted for 8 points, two rebounds and an assist. Kaden Gonzalez hit for 7 points, including a 3-pointer, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Damien Romo scored 2 points, pulled down six rebounds with a steal and an assist.

Aidan Dennis hauled in 10 rebounds and stole the ball once while Nino Tambunga tallied four rebounds and two steals.

The Eagles are now 1-1 in District 7-2A play. Their next game is Friday, January 15th when they host the McCamey Badgers at Eagle Gym.
