Eldorado’s 7on7 football team has qualified to play in the State 7on7 tournament on June 24-25 in College Station.

The team punched its ticket to the state tournament on Friday, May 28th with a series of wins at the Odessa 7on7 tournament played at the Ratliff Athletic Complex in Odessa.

The Eldorado Eagles 7on7 squad, coached by former Eagles Kevan Covarrubiaz and Justin Ochoa, defeated the Odessa Permian JV squad 14-13, then defeated Alpine 29-13. The Eagles went on to beat Odessa Compass 20-13 before defeating Wink 40-21.

Eldorado was slated to play Alpine again in the finals, but the two teams opted to skip the match since they had both qualified for the state tournament.

The Eagles team is slated to play in the Sonora 7on7 Tournament on Saturday, June 5th and in Abilene on Friday, June 11th, before heading to the state tournament two weeks later.

Playing for the Eldorado Eagles 7on7 team are: Mario Arispe, Korbin Covarrubiaz, Jason Covarrubiaz, Jassi Galindo, Kaden Gonzalez, Eleazar Hernandez, Santiago Hernandez, James Kimble, Paul Luna, Cooper Meador, Garrett Porter, Damian Romo and Nino Tambunga.
