On May 14, 2019, the Rotary Club of Plainview, Texas recognized Dr. HT Sanchez as a Paul Harris Fellow. The Fellowship recognizes “tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world,” according to Rotary International. It is a distinction given to community members who work toward building a better future in their community through services.

Dr. Sanchez is the son of Heliodoro and Sylvia Sanchez of Eldorado. He is married to Mary Ann Sanchez. They have two children, Anasatsia, 12, and HT III, 8. Dr. Sanchez is a 1993 graduate of Eldorado High School, a 1997 graduate of Angelo State University with a BA in English, a 2002 graduate from Sul Ross State with a M.Ed., and a 2006 graduate from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas with doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Dr. Sanchez currently serves as Superintendent of the Plainview Independent School District, which educates over 5,000 students on the Texas South Plains.

The distinction was awarded to Dr. Sanchez in recognition of the visionary work done in setting the Plainview ISD’s path forward in the areas of facility planning, academics, and opportunities for learners. Plainview ISD is home to one of US News and World Reports top 300 high schools in Texas.
