Justice of the Peace Phil Edmiston asked the Schleicher County Commissioners Court on Monday, November 15th to once again consider authorizing a $1,200 incentive program payment to his clerk, Rahegyn Franke. Edmiston said the funds could be paid from the JP Technology Fund and would compensate her for extra training she has received through the years.

The commissioners were split on the matter with Kirk Griffin and Steve Nelson voting to approve the request. Gary Gibson and Chris Meador voted against the request.

County Judge Charlie Bradley said during the discussion leading up to the vote that there might be some merit to setting aside funds for workplace incentives in the future, but added that the matter needed to be studied. Bradley did not vote to break the 2-2 tie so Griffin’s motion to approve Edmiston’s request failed.

The commissioners then cast the county’s votes for Schleicher County Appraisal Board of Directors with Steve Nelson receiving 1,306 votes and Chris Meador getting 1,305. Nelson and Meador will represent Schleicher County during the 2022-2023 year.

The court also approved joining Tarrant County’s Cooperative Purchasing Program.

The commissioners approved joining the Concho Valley Regional Adult Sexual Assault Response Team as mandated by Senate Bill 476 of the 87th Legislature. They also authorized a list of individuals including Sheriff Jason Chatham, to represent the county on the team.

In other business, Commission Steve Nelson informed the court that Kinder Morgan Inc. will release $50,000to the county that has since been held in escrow since last year. The funds will pay for road damaged during pipeline construction.

Schleicher County Election Judge Rosemary Adame was present to help as the commissioners canvassed the results of the November 2nd constitutional amendment election.

Judge Charlie Bradley presided over Monday’s meeting with Commissioner Kary Gibson, Steve Nelson, Kirk Griffin and Chris Meador in attendance. County attorney Clint Griffin, District Clerk Mary Ann Gonzales, County treasurer Jennifer Henderson, and County Sheriff Jason Chatham were also on hand for the meeting.

The next the meeting of the Schleicher County Commissioners Court is slated for 9 a.m. on Monday, November 29th at the Schleicher County Memorial Building.
