One new COVID-19 case was reported in Schleicher County on Wednesday, September 9th, a white female in her 20s who was tested in San Angelo.

Prior to that case, there have been no new cases reported in Schleicher County since August 28th.

Two tests were pending at Schleicher County Medical Center, according to Hospital Administrator Paul Burke. He added that his staff has conducted significantly fewer tests in recent days.

That’s much the same everywhere in Texas, including San Angelo where test totals, positive cases and hospitalizations have declined dramatically.

As this edition went to press on Wednesday, September 9th, there are believed to be on only two active cases in the county.

Burke notes that it is likely that there are people here who have the virus, but are unaware.

In many cases, especially with younger and healthier individuals, they show no symptoms (asymptomatic) even though they are infected by the virus.

To date, 64 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the county, since the first case was reported here on June 12. There have been two deaths attributed to the disease, including a man in his 70s on July 6th and a man in his 80s on August 25th.
