Sherry was born in San Angelo February 28, 1966 to Walter and Jonet Powell, Jr. She lived and went to school in Eldorado.

She married Mark Gilly March 6, twenty-three years ago. Mark and Sherry lived in Dinero, Texas for many years where Mark worked with Valero Refining and Sherry worked at Gills Nursery while she studied horticulture and achieved her Horticulture Certification.

Sherry’s favorite and major hobby was plants. She had a green house filled with beautiful plants. She had a special love for dogs. Max and Gulliver were her two doggie children that preceded her over the rainbow bridge.

Sherry was devoted to family and friends. If she loved you, you knew it. You also knew it if she didn’t. She loved fishing at Amistad and often went with friends, her dad and brothers family. When Sherry made a friend, it was a life long friendship. Pam Donaho was her life long best friend. Paula Stoepel, a close friend for 35 years, was also a big part of Sherry’s life. Sherry was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Eldorado when she was 12 years old.

She is survived by her husband Mark, stepson Matt Gilly, his fiance Cortney, and granddaughter Ava Gilly. Also, her parents, Walter and Jonet, brother Walter III, and sister-in-law Randa, whom she loved like a sister. Also, maternal grandmother Jeanette Pike, many beloved cousins, two nieces, Samantha Junell and her husband Clay, and Heather Powell, along with seven beloved great-nieces and nephews.

Sherry was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter Powell Sr., and Lema Powell, paternal grandfather, Joe Pike and mother-in-law Mary Lou Gilly.

Her bright smile, generous heart and love of life will be sorely missed and not forgotten.
