Roy Wayne Short, 75, of Fort Stockton, passed away March 21, 2016 in Fort Stockton of natural causes.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 in the Eldorado Cemetery Chapel.
He was born June 9, 1940 in San Angelo to Curtis C. and Frankie Hannum Short.
He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1958 and attended San Angelo College for a time before joining the Army. While in the service, he was stationed at Fort Polk, LA.
He married Maudie Mitchell Short in Eldorado on March 17, 1966.
After the Army, worked at the Firestone Test Center in Fort Stockton for 23 years until the facility closed. After that, he worked for 12 years as a jailer for the Pecos County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by Maudie, his wife of 44 years; and his parents Curtis C. and Frankie Hannum Short.
He is survived by a son, David Short and wife, Delma, of Midland; two daughters, Sandra Short Billingsley and husband, Michael, of Boerne, and Gretta Short McKissack and husband, Dudley, of Fort Stockton; and five grandchildren.
