Paul Richard Emmons 72 of Eldorado, went home to rest in the arms of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ on November 13th, 2018. His Funeral was held Sunday November the 18th 2018 at the Agape Assembly of God church in Eldorado TX. Pallbearers were Michael Emmons, Paul Emmons, Gene Bills Jr., Mickey Weatherall, Jason Jessup, and Tim Emmons-Doerschuck.

Richard was born February 8th, 1946 in Andrews TX. to Herbert and Grace Emmons. He graduated from Andrews high School in 1965. Upon graduation he enlisted in the army and served as a military policeman. In the army he earned the rank of Specialist 4. Following his honorable discharge from the military he married his high school sweetheart Tommie Hardin. They had two children Conon Emmons and Cara Emmons Castaneda both born in Andrews, TX.

Richard worked for Contell telephone company until he retired in 1989. In 1975 Richard married Shirley Keel Twiner of Newton, TX. A marriage that lasted 39 years until her death in 2015.

Richard was survived by his brothers Gordon Emmons and Buck Emmons of Eldorado and sister Martha Emmons of Wall; son Conon Emmons and his wife Melissa of Eldorado; daughter Cara Emmons Castaneda and husband Ernie of Seguin; step-daughters Patricia Kell and husband Larry, and Selena Sanders and husband Josh; grandchildren Jessica Baillargeon, Reagan Wadsworth, Niki Castaneda-Kotrola, Kayla and Kelsea Castaneda, Garret, Grant, and Taylor Emmons; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife Shirley Emmons; parents, and siblings Dorris Doty, Herb Junior, David Emmons, Jimmy Emmons, Gary Emmons and granddaughter Margaret Castaneda.

Richard loved camping and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and was a long-time resident of Eldorado. He loved to visit and play dominoes with residents of Eldorado nursing home. He was a compassionate man who loved his family and would help others. He enjoyed watching his grandkids in various activities.

After both Richard and Tommie were widowed they reconnected and enjoyed each other’s companionship.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the community and extended family for their support, prayers, and love.
