Kyle A. Donaldson, 81, passed away peacefully at home with family around him after battling dementia for five years.

Kyle was born at home in Eldorado, Texas to Clara Adams Donaldson and Russell Addison Donaldson.

Kyle married Elaine Luttrell on June 2, 1962, two weeks after she graduated high school. They had just celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Kyle joins his family in heaven including his parents, his brother Jerry Donaldson and his wife Pat, brother Bill Carson, sister Toby Harris and husband Milton, sister Mary Smith and grandbaby Kylie Donaldson.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elaine, daughter Traci Hart and husband Jeff, Jason Donaldson and wife Beth, grandchildren Kendall Hart, Jaxon and Jordin Donaldson, and cousin Paula McGinley. His nephews Jody Luttrell wife Mary Beth, Maxc Luttrell, Kevin Donaldson, wife Debbie, and Chris Donaldson and Katie Harper. Nephews Bobby Joe and Jimmy Smith, niece Patti Christy, great nephew Stoney Harris and sister-in-law Trevlin Strong. And many more nieces and nephews.

Kyle worked for GTE for 36 years in Sonora. He was the kind of person that if your phone went out you could call him at home and he would get it fixed. He was so trustworthy that every rancher in Sutton and Schleicher counties gave him a key to their ranch gate. When he retired from GTE he went back to work with another former GTE employee, friend and fellow fireman, Steve Whitson, continuing to install and repair phones. They branched out and started installing Dish satellites.

Kyle was involved in anything to do with the Fire Department. He was a member of the Sonora Volunteer Department for 50 years and served in various capacities including Fire Chief and Sec-Treasurer.

He was very involved with the Fireman’s and Fire Marshall’s Training School at Texas A&M University. He attended training every year for many years and eventually became an instructor on the warehouse project for 23 years. Kyle also served the City of Sonora on the City Council for six years. He served as a trustee on the Board of the Fireman’s and Fire Marshall’s Pension Fund for 13 years, a job he enjoyed very much.

The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the nurses of the Alvis Johnson Home Health and Hospice Service in Sonora. They were a tremendous help to us.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date in July. Online condolences may be made at lovefuneralhome.net
