Kenneth Joseph Thomas, 84, passed into his Heavenly Father’s arms on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Kenneth was born March 18, 1937 in Cushing, Texas to Joseph Talmadge Thomas and Muriel Evelyn Ferguson Thomas. He was a resident of Eldorado, Texas for 55 years.
Ken grew up in East Texas hunting, fishing, and working in the woods at an early age. After graduation from Cushing High School, he attended Stephen F. Austin State University.
In 1958, he joined the United States Air Force for three years and then went back to college and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Physical Education. Later, he earned a Master of Arts for Teachers of Mathematics from the University of Montana. He taught and coached in Richland Springs, Texas, Spearman, Texas, and Eldorado, Texas. Ken worked for R&H Well Service and Trey Trucks as a dispatcher and office manager. Later, he taught at Christoval High School in Texas. After retiring, he worked for Halbert Propane and as a grounds keeper for First Baptist Church.
A quiet man, Ken loved God, family, and his community. He was a Deacon at his church and known for his service to others including being a volunteer EMT. He also enjoyed the outdoors and spent much of his time on the lake, in a deer blind, on the golf course, or tinkering in his shop.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge Thomas and Evelyn Thomas Spivey, his stepfather, Denzel Spivey, and his brother in law, Melvers “Bud” Landrum.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Thomas of Eldorado, Texas; son, Bradley Joseph Thomas (Kirsten) of Alvin, Texas; daughter, Stephanie Thomas Keck,(Rusty) of Harper, Texas, and their mother, Nancy Wright; son, Ward Lee Evans, (Ana) of El Paso, Texas and daughter, Amy Catherine Evans, of San Angelo, Texas; brother, Stoney Wayne Thomas (Doris) of Gilmer, Texas; sister, Jimmie Pauline Landrum of Richardson, Texas; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Celebration Of Life will be Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Eldorado, Texas.
