The Eldorado Eagles basketball team dropped a pair of district games on Friday and Tuesday, losing to Miles and Christoval by a score of 48-40 in each contest.

The two losses leave the Eagles in the hunt for a playoff berth but needing to win over Ozona on Friday at Eagle Gym. The Warbirds will then host the Forsan Buffaloes on Tuesday, February 12th to close out the district season.

Eldorado 40 - Miles 48

The Eldorado Eagles basketball team dropped a District 7-2A game to the Miles Bulldogs on Friday, February 1st in Miles by a score of 48-40.

David Barajas led scoring for the Warbirds with 13 points and Cesar Garcia hit for 12.

Miles took an early lead that had the Eagles playing from behind the rest of the game. The Bulldogs led 13-2 at the end of the first quarter. Aiden Dennis had the Eagles only points in the period. He ended up with eight points on the night.

Cesar Garcia led the rally in the second quarter with seven points as the Eagles fought to overcome the early deficit. By the time the buzzer sounded at halftime, Miles led 23-18.

That would be as good as it got for the Warbirds as Miles outscored Eldorado 11-10 in the third stanza and 14-12 in the fourth to claim the 48-40 victory.

Also scoring for Eldorado were Eric Reyes with four points, Edmundo Garcia with two and Kayden Gonzalez with a single point from the free-throw line.

Christoval 48 - Eldorado 40

Eric Reyes had a 14 point night for the Eldorado Eagles on Tuesday, February 5th while Cesar Garcia tallied 11 in a losing effort against the Christoval Cougars in Eagle Gym.

The Cougars led 22-8 after one quarter of play. Eldorado surged in the second quarter, as Reyes drained four shots in the stanza and Garcia sank a couple of three-pointers to account for the Eagles 14 points in the quarter. But the Cougars held a 28-22 lead at the intermission and extended it in the second half outscoring Eldorado 10-9 in each of the final two quarters, making the final score 48-40 in favor of Christoval.

David Barajas tallied eight points for the Warbirds while Dennis Aiden added six and Kayden Rodriguez added a point from the free throw line.
