Mack Redish was appointed to fill the Eldorado City Council seat in Ward #1 left vacant when Ronnie Sauer chose not to seek re-election.

Redish was sworn in during a special meeting held during the noon hour on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Eldorado City Hall. He was administered the oath of office by City Secretary Melissa Truelove.

During the meeting, Tom Brown, a civil engineer with MRB Group advised the council that construction of a new water tower and a water system improvement project is moving forward with three major contracts soon to be issued.

Darlene Edmiston was present for the meeting to discuss city ordinances and address property concerns. Mayor Pro Tem George Arispe advised Mrs. Edmiston that her concerns would be looked into.

Among other business, the council approved MRB Group as the city’s engineering firm for the Texas Community Block Grant Project (TxCDBG) and authorized Mayor Pro Tem George Arispe to enter into engineering firm contracts for the project.

The council then approved paying $3,020 for repair to the air conditioning system at the bill for the Eldorado Service Center.

It was noted during the meeting that the city’s landfill is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with additional hours from 8 a.m. until 12 noon on the first Saturday of each month.

A donation of $1,000 was approved to the Schleicher County Rodeo Association, making the city a Gold Sponsor.

Utility Superintendent Floyd Fay advised the council that $13,000 worth of repairs had been made to the city’s 2007 garbage truck. He asked the council consider buying a new truck in the near future, but no action was taken on the matter.

George Arispe presided over the meeting in the absence of Mayor John Nikolauk who has been in poor health. Council members present included Danny Halbert, Wayne McGinnes, Paul Rebuck and Mack Redish. Council member Vicki Farmer was absent.
