The Schleicher County Rodeo Association held its 51st annual Top of the Divide Rodeo on Friday and Saturday, July 24th & 25th at the rodeo area south of town.

The event actually got underway on Thursday, July 23rd with several contestants, who could not appear in the main part of the rodeo, competing in slack events. By most accounts, it was a successful event, given the concerns about the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic and the needs for social distancing.

SCRA President Clint Griffin said he was pleased with the turnout, which was down about 35% over an average year. He reported a paid attendance of 150 on Friday night with about 210 on Saturday night. Approximately 80 paid to attend the dance.

The Stateline Band from Midland provided the entertainment at a dance held on the slab near the arena following the Saturday night performance of the rodeo.
