The Eldorado Middle School Eagles were flying high last Thursday as they traveled to Menard and brought home a 50-6 victory.

The Eagles struck first as Omar Barajas connected with Jason Covarrubi az on a quick pass to get on the scoreboard early. Covarrubiaz finished the drive off converting the 2-points to give the Eagles an 8-0 lead,

The Yellowjackets quickly answered back but couldn’t convert on the extra-point try leaving the game at 8-6.

Barajas was back at it again as he went to the air and found Sam Griffin for another touchdown. Covarrubiaz added two more points, and the Eagles extended their lead to 16-6.

In the next two defensive possessions Mario Arispe snatched his fourth interception of the year and Marcos Morin picked up a fumble keeping the Menard out of the end zone.

Barajas found Covarrubiaz again on a pass and this time Morin converted on the 2-point try to extend the Eagles lead to 24-6.

At the end of the 2nd quarter, Barajas connected with Morin through the air to bring the score to 30-6 at the half.

The second half saw the Eagles continuing to ramp up the defensive intensity as their D-line and linebackers continued to stuff Menard’s offense all night

In the third quarter, Barajas hit Mario Arispe on a quick pass and he did the rest, dashing to the end zone for another six points. Covarrubiaz’s conversion along with Barajas’ fifth touchdown pass gave the Eagles a 38-6 lead at the end of the third.

Covarrubiaz wasn’t done either, getting in behind an offensive line that simply owned the line of scrimmage, he rushed for a touchdown making it 44-6.

Menard’s offense went to the air again in search of another score, but Covarrubiaz came up with an interception that ruined the plan.

Seth Clifton finished off the next drive as he plowed over a Menard defender to get into the end zone, scoring his 1st touchdown of the year.

The Eagles won the game 50-6 and will face Christoval this Thursday in Eldorado for their final game of the year.
