EHS freshman Jessica Garcia will travel to the State UIL Cross Country Meet in Round Rock on Saturday, November 9th. She will be competing against 2A runners from across the state. The course is located east of Round Rock at Old Settlers Park where the terrain is similar to the course in Lubbock where the Regional Meet was held.

Jessica’s tag number will be 1333 and she will run at 9:40 a.m. on Saturday morning as one of 299 2A runners.

Garcia qualified for the meet on the 3,200 meter course in Lubbock on October 28th with temperatures hovering just above freezing. The top 10 places automatically qualify for the state meet, but some of those were also on teams that qualified for state and will be competing with their teams. That allowed the Garcia to move up and earned her a ticket to the state meet.

Garcia ran the same course at the Lubbock ISD Invitational on September 28th, when she finished 12th with a time of 13:23.0.

Garcia, just a freshman, began here high school cross county career on August 28th at the Toe Nail Meet in Christoval where she placed 8th. On September 14th she placed 19th with a time of 13:21.66 at the Wall Cross Country Meet at San Angelo State Park.

Garcia medaled in Mason on October 2nd placing 5th with a time of 13.18. A few days later she ran in the Eldorado Invitational Cross Country Meet and place 3rd with a time of 12.46.

Things really got serious on October 16th when Garcia ran in the District 7-2A Meet at San Angelo State Park where she earned a bronze medal and a trip to the Regional Meet in Lubbock.
