COVID-19/coronavirus has made its way onto the Schleicher County ISD elementary campus, where a 4th grade teacher has tested positive for the virus, Superintendent Robert Gibson, Sr said on Friday, October 9th.

Likewise, two staff members have tested positive at the Schleicher County Nursing Home. Pam Stokes, the nursing home’s administrator announced on Tuesday that two staff members tested positive and were immediately sent home. She notes that neither of the employees has been in direct contact with nursing home residents and said that resident family members have been notified of the situation.

Similarly, SCISD officials are following the school district’s COVID-19 protocols. Superintendent Gibson said in a statement that after consultation with local health officials and in consideration of state and federal health guidelines, it has been determined that it is best to continue regular on-campus instruction and school-related activity.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
