The 8-2A All-District team was announced this week, following Eldorado and Christoval’s elimination from the State 2A Playoffs. And, once again this year, the Eldorado Eagles dominate the list of honors.

Four of the district’s superlative honors went to the Eagles with senior quarterback Kevan Covarrubiaz being named the district’s Most Valuable Offensive Player. Emiliano “Big E” Hernandez, also a senior, was named the Most Valuable Lineman while sophomore Santiago Hernandez was named Newcomer of the Year.

Head Coach Michael Johnson’s coaching staff was selected as the District 8-2A Staff of the Year. Assistant Coaches include: Defensive Coordinator William Robledo, Offensive Coordinator Zane Hernandez, Special Teams Coordinator and Strength Coach Christopher Castleman, Jared Romine and James Dougherty.

Twenty Eagles were chosen to the team and claimed 31 positions on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, as well as on the Academic All District Team.

The Eagles finished the season with a 10-2 overall record, including a District 8-2A championship and a Bi-District championship before being eliminated from the playoffs last Friday by the Wheeler Mustangs.
