Eldorado Middle School’s 7th and 8th grade footballers saw their first real action of the season on Thursday, September 8th and claimed a pair of victories over the Sonora Colts.

EMS White 16 - Sonora 0

Eldorado’s “White Team,” made up primarily of 7th graders, defeated Sonora 16-0.

Ryder Walker got things going for the junior Warbirds, scoring on a 4-yard run with 5:59 remaining in the second quarter. Walker also carried the 2-point conversion in to give the Eagles an 8-0 lead.

Aiden Hernandez scored on a 1-yard run in the third stanza with Walker scoring on the 2-point try to give Eldorado the 16-0 margin of victory.

Coach Jaxson Robinson praised the play of his team giving a special nod to offensive players Ryder Walker, Juan Chavez and Tristen Cotto, who the coach credited with making good snaps throughout the game.

Robinson also noted the defensive play of Eric Saldana, Cole Meador and Ryker Edmiston, as well as special team players Ronan Herrera, Eleazar Martinez and Oscar Sanchez.

EMS Green 14 - Sonora 12

Eldorado’s “White Team,” made up primarily of 8th graders, defeated Sonora 14-12.

Garrett Walling threw a TD pass to Tyler Proffitt with 16 seconds remaining in the first half. Josh Guzman carried in the 2-point conversion.

Guzman scored the winning touchdown with less than a minute left in the game. The 2-point conversion attempt failed, but Eldorado had its 14-12 margin of victory.

Offensive players of the game were Garrett Walling, who completed five of his 19 passes, including one for a TD, as well as Josh Guzman and Tyler Proffitt

Defensive players of the game were Charlie Mac Griffin, Osvaldo Huichapa and Chuy Martinez while special team players of the game were Jakob Gamez, Andres Gomez and Jaetn Chancellor, who Coach Robinson credited with great kicks and an onside kick recovery.
