Jason Chatham was sworn in as Schleicher County Sheriff on Thursday, July 23, 2020.

County Judge Charlie Bradley administered the oath of office in his courtroom inside the Schleicher County Memorial Building, with a group of Chatham’s friends and family members looking on.

Several state and local law enforcement officers were also in attendance, including former Sheriff David Doran who retired from office on Tuesday, July 22nd, after 24 years on the job.

Chatham is the Republican nominee for the sheriff’s position and will be on the ballot in November. There is no Democratic opponent.

Chatham has served as a Schleicher County Deputy Sheriff for 21 years. He took over as Chief Deputy in 2015, following the retirement of George Arispe.

The Schleicher County Commissioners Court met Monday, July 20th in a special session and voted to appoint Chatham as the county’s 14th sheriff.
