Schleicher County Sheriff’s deputies have been busy in recent days dealing with a stolen car and a series of vehicle burglaries.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, February 8th, a report of a stolen 2004 Honda passenger car was received and a deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of Pecos Street where a complaint was made and an investigation began.

The car was found in an alleyway about an hour later and approximately four blocks away. The owner inspected the car and found no visible damage but noticed a few items missing from the vehicle. The missing items were documented and the car was returned to the owner.

Later on Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office received two calls about vehicles being burglarized and items taken for the cars.

During the subsequent investigation, and after interviewing witnesses, deputies discovered that other vehicles had been burglarized in the northeast part of town, but had not been reported to authorities.

The investigation into the theft of the car and the vehicle burglaries continues.

Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to keep their vehicles locked at all times when they are unattended. Persons with information about the car theft or the vehicle burglaries are encouraged to contact the Schleicher County Sheriff’s Office at 325-853-2737.

Remember to call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.
