  • Gas Rates Are Going Up, So Pray for a Mild Winter

    The price the City of Eldorado pays for natural gas is going up and that cost will be passed through to the city’s gas customers. Nothing is official until the city council holds hearings on matter, but council members voted Tuesday night, October 13th, to support a $10 increase in the city’s base rate.

  • Eagles Defeat Miles Bulldogs to Open District Play

    The Eldorado Eagles coasted to a 35-6 win over the Miles Bulldogs on Friday, October 9th at Larry Mitchel Stadium in Eldorado. The Warbirds were never really challenged in the game as they put 28 points on the board and held the Bulldogs scoreless in the first half.
  • Elementary Teacher, 2 Nursing Home Employees Test Positive for COVID-19

    COVID-19/coronavirus made its way last week onto the Schleicher County ISD elementary campus where a 4th grade teacher tested positive for the virus. Superintendent Robert Gibson, Sr. reported the news on Friday, October 9th, and added that, so far, no students have tested positive for the virus. Meanwhile, two staff members tested positive at the Schleicher County Nursing Home last week. Nursing Home Administrator Pam Stokes announced last week that two staff members tested positive and were immediately sent home. She notes that neither of the employees had been in direct contact with nursing home residents and said that resident family members have been notified of the situation.

    The Schleicher County ISD board of trustees met in regular session on Monday, October 12th and heard about efforts on all three campuses to educate the district’s students while complying with COVID-19 protocols.
  • MAGA Rally and Pro-Trump Parade Planned Here Saturday

    Supporters of President Donald Trump are planning a Make America Great Again (MAGA) rally and parade on Saturday, October 17th. The event is slated to get underway at 4 p.m. on the Schleicher County courthouse square with participants being encouraged to decorate their vehicles with Trump and/or MAGA signs and flags.
  • Elementary Teacher and 2 Nursing Home Employees Test Positive for COVID-19

    COVID-19/coronavirus has made its way onto the Schleicher County ISD elementary campus, where a 4th grade teacher has tested positive for the virus, Superintendent Robert Gibson, Sr said on Friday, October 9th. Likewise, two staff members have tested positive at the Schleicher County Nursing Home.

  • Early Voting Begins Tuesday

    Early voting in the 2020 General Election begins in Texas on Tuesday, October 13th and continues through Friday, October 30th. Here in Schleicher County, early voting will be conducted in the County Clerk’s office on the first floor of the courthouse. The hours of operation will be from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each weekday with the office closing for lunch from 12 noon until 1 p.m.
  • Eldorado Game Association Supports Hunters and Our Local Community

    The Eldorado Game Association is a non-profit organization made up of community volunteers which was established 34 years ago and has remained self-sufficient with the help of ranchers, local businesses and other generous donors. The EGA normally hosts its annual Game Dinner each year on the 1st Saturday in November, which is attended by over 1,300 individuals.
  • Commissioners Will Consider Future of CR 238 at Next Meeting on Oct. 19

    Schleicher County Commissioners Court decided Monday to discuss the possible closure of County Road 238 at their next meeting on October 19th. Arthur Uhl, representing the 6 Mile Ranch in eastern Schleicher County, posted a notice of intent regarding road closure of County Road 238 at the Schleicher County Courthouse on August 24th, 2020. The road runs through the 6 Mile Ranch and connects U.S. 190 with Schleicher County Road 245 west of Ft. McKavett.

  • Eagles Hosting Miles Bulldogs to Open District Play

    The Eldorado Eagles will begin district play on Friday, October 8th when the Miles Bulldogs come to town. Both teams took last week off to rest and heal up following tough non-district schedules.
