Fire Chief Jerry Jones was on hand for the Eldorado City Council meeting on Wednesday, November 12th to voice concerns about the recent increase in the city’s minimum water charge.

The city recently increased its minimum charge from $19 to $21. That’s the amount city customers pay for 3,000 gallons of water. Additional charges apply for each 1,000 gallons used above and beyond the minimum.

Fire Department personnel who are on the city water system are also required to pay a minimum charge but instead of receiving 3,000 gallons, they may receive up to 50,000 gallons of water before incurring an additional charge.

It looked for all the world like the Eldorado/Miles game was going to be a nail-biter last Thursday night as they met in Bronte to decide the Class 2A Division II bi-district title. And, the game was indeed close until about halfway into the second quarter when the Bulldogs defense stopped the Eagles in the red zone to turn away a scoring drive that threatened to tie the game at 14. From there on, the Bulldogs dominated and coasted to a 42-14 victory.

Jaime Chancellor lined up at tight end for the Eagles for the first time, wearing number 84 and taking the place of injured Caleb Hearn. And it would be Chancellor who scored the first points of the game when he hauled in a 23-yard TD pass from Justin Whitten. Victor Castro converted the extra-point attempt and the Eagles led 7-0 at the 7:38 mark in the first quarter.
