GOLDTHWAITE — Duain Tyson, 80, of Priddy, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Hamilton Hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Comanche, Texas to Luthicia Stewart and Thomas Matthew Tyson. He married Elizabeth Kunkel on March 12, 1949, in Priddy, Texas.

He lived in Priddy, Texas, all his life, and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He was a farmer, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Pallbearers were his granddaughters, and honorary pallbearers were his grandsons.

Visitation was Friday, July 10. Service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy, with Pastor Don Kingman officiating, and burial in Zion Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Tyson of Priddy, Texas; six children and their spouses, Annie and Chester Henry of Goldthwaite, Texas, Helen and Dana Ledbetter of Eldorado, Texas, Clyde and Donna Tyson of Lampasas, Texas, Kathy and Perry Alexander of Goldthwaite, Texas, Anthony and Karen Tyson of Comanche, Texas, and Vicki and Bobby Hughes of Mansfield; 19 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Cane Alexander; four brothers; a sister; and his best friend, Swinger Hale.
