Travis Wilson Joiner, 23, unexpectedly joined the Lord, along with his beloved sister Rachel on March 6, 2009. He was born May 21, 1985 in San Angelo, Texas.
Travis was a handsome young man with a sweet and gentle spirit. He was known as the quiet thinker who always treated others in the most kind and thoughtful way. He always had a smile to share and was known by his friends as fun, smart, the guy who could solve any problem, and could probably build a house out of Legos.

Travis grew up in Eldorado, Texas on the farm. Country life suited him well because there was always plenty of “stuff” to take apart and maybe put back together. The vastness and beauty of the night sky provided the perfect arena for viewing God’s handiwork through his telescope. This star gazing hobby would later develop into a passion for learning all about space and space travel.

As a little boy and into his elementary years Travis enjoyed anything that had wheels or was mechanical. He spent hours playing with his cars and trucks, playing with his little sister and building with Legos. He enjoyed a close and loving relationship and spent many hours with both sets of grandparents who lived nearby. They helped raise and care for him as he did for them in their later years.

In junior high and high school he enjoyed video games, music, watching science fiction movies, pursuing scouting and building with Legos. Travis was always a child at heart and truly loved to spend time with his little brother Evan who was also his best friend. He participated in football, track, UIL science and math competitions, one act play as well as youth group activities at the First United Methodist Church.
Travis received many honors for his outstanding achievements in high school including becoming an Eagle Scout and being named valedictorian of his 2004 graduating class. He was attending Texas A&M University on an honors scholarship and would have graduated in December of 2009 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering which had been his lifelong dream.

Although his beautiful life and dreams were cut short through tragedy, his dreams of experiencing and understanding the universe now will be realized in the loving arms of Jesus Christ.

Travis is survived by his loving parents Wayne and Shirley Joiner; by his little brother Evan; and his Grandparents Raymond Wilson and Lula Mae Joiner. He is also survived by his Uncles Rick Wilson and wife Mary Ann; John Wilson and wife Sonya; Steve Wilson and wife Suzan; John Paul Joiner and wife Cynthia; and Aunt Wally Leaverton and husband Clay; as well as a host of cousins and special friends. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Wilson; and grandfather, Wallace Joiner.

Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church of Eldorado, Texas with burial following at the Eldorado Cemetery.
