Larry Edward Donaldson “Domino” passed away peacefully on July 5, 2014, at the age of 68.

Larry and his twin brother, Gary, were born on June 26, 1946, in San Angelo, Texas to Clara Mae (King) and Edward Granville “Sandy” Donaldson. The family of five, including older brother, Walter, moved from the Bear Creek Ranch near Cleo, Texas to Eldorado in 1949. After graduating from Eldorado High School in 1964, he attended Angelo State College until he and Gary entered the US Army in 1966.

He served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967 where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.

After returning home, he met Susan Jo Gault. They were married in 1969 and from this marriage, three children were born. He and his family moved from San Angelo to Christoval in 1983 to be closer to his family. He was a jack of all trades. He delivered milk, painted houses, owned a feed business and a bar but his true love was ranching.

You could find him at the coffee shop first thing in the morning to get his crossword puzzle and then he hit the road so he could be at someone’s ranch by day light. He was always helping mark calves, shear sheep, guide hunters or anything else that could prolong his time in the country.

He never missed an opportunity to watch Friday night football where he watched his nephews play and his daughters cheer from the sidelines. He was present at basketball games, tennis matches, baseball games and stock shows. He moved back to Eldorado in 2000 and continued to help local ranchers including his life-long friend and confidant, Mary Leigh Tisdale Dunagan. He enjoyed her company and being on her ranch. She enjoyed his friendship and his knowledge of livestock and hunters. They were quite the pair.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Billy Dean Donaldson.

He is survived by his daughters Cary Wike and her husband Barry, of San Angelo, and Katy Taylor and her husband, Quentin of San Angelo; his son Thomas Donaldson of Christoval; his grandchildren Keyland Taylor, Duriell Taylor, Jake Wike, Clara Wike, Talmadge Taylor and Larrame Taylor; his older brother Walter Donaldson and his wife, Joyce of Maxwell; his twin brother, Gary Donaldson, and his wife Angela of San Angelo; his nieces and nephews and their families Stassi Jurica, Reid Donaldson, Colby Donaldson, Chauncey Donaldson and Sabrina Donaldson; his best friend and confidant Mary Leigh Tisdale Dunagan who he lovingly referred to as “the boss” and her children Danette Buntyn and Wendi Wilde and their families; and his Aunt Imogene Bynum.

He is also survived by numerous cousins and life-long friends.

Pallbearers will be George DeWolf, Darryl Weishuhn, Jerry Arthur, Rick Wilson, Bob Henson, BJ Wilde and Manley Buntyn. Honorary Pallbearers are Ed Harris and Hardy Turnbo.

Visitation will be from 5 - 7 Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Kerbow Funeral Home in Eldorado. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the First Methodist Church in Eldorado. Sunset graveside service will be at 8:00 p.m. in the Eldorado Cemetery and everyone is welcome.
