At the age of 13 he started helping his dad and continued to learn about the oilfield business from up close. Upon his father’s death in 1971, John Ed operated the family business, C.C. Lease Service, Co., until 1979 when he sold it. He continued with his contract pumping business, gauging wells for numerous oil companies. In 1987, John Ed and his wife Rita established Meador
Construction with three employes. As it exists today, the company has over 90 employees and contracts work to some 30 welders on a full time basis.
John Ed contributed the success of Meador Construction to having a good teacher and good employees. John appreciated each and every employee’s dedication and loyalty which has made Meador Construction a well known and respected service company in the oilfield industry.
Flying was John Ed’s greatest passion. He earned his pilot’s license in 1971. His excitement was contagious.
