ELDORADO - Lawrence (Dutch) Dannheim, 76, passed away on April 2, 2011, at Robert Lee Care Facility. Graveside Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Monday, April 4, in Eldorado Cemetery. Lawrence was born June 24, 1934, in Eldorado, Texas, to Harvey and Emma Dannheim. Lawrence was a honorable husband to Oretha Powell Dannheim. They married Aug. 31, 1956, in Eldorado, Texas. Lawrence was preceded in death by Oretha on Aug. 31, 2007.
Lawrence is survived by two sons, Carl Louis Dannheim and wife Nancy of Monroe, La. and Marcus Otto Dannheim and wife Linda of Mertzon, Texas. He is also survived by two brothers, Noel Dannheim of Lampassas, Texas, and Sammy Dannheim of San Angelo; and two sisters, Clarice Hurst of San Angelo and Marilyn Wyett of Milpitas, Calif. Lawrence (Papaw) was a wonderful grandfather, and is also survived by eight grandchildren, Ross Dannheim, Ashley Michulka, Amanda Dannheim, Dakota Dannheim, Weston Dannheim, Shawn McDonald, Tanner McDonald, Trent Lunsford; and four great-grandchildren, Carson, Thomas, Mackie and Marley Dannheim. Lawrence was well known for his services to the community, he was a Schleicher County Commissioner, 22-year-member on the Irion County School Board, Irion County EMT, and Irion County Democratic Chairman.
One of the things Lawrence enjoyed was handcrafting furniture and crafts from mesquite wood. He also enjoyed cruising, fishing, camping and traveling. The family would like to express grateful thanks to everyone for their prayers visits, and words of kindness throughout Lawrence's illness. Honorary pallbearers were Brad, Harvey, Weston And Ross Dannheim, Tanner and Shawn McDonald, and Doug Baxter. The family requests memorials be made to the Irion County ISD Band.
