Warren Steed Jeffs, Frederick Merril Jessop and Merril Leroy Jessop have been subpoenaed to testify in the bigamy trial of Wendell Loy Nielsen, slated to begin this week in Midland.

Jeffs called to testify in Neilsen bigamy trial

Warren Steed Jeffs, Frederick Merril Jessop and Merril Leroy Jessop have been subpoenaed to testify in the bigamy trial of Wendell Loy Nielsen, slated to begin this week in Midland.
Jason Clark, spokesperson for the Texas Department of Criminal Justices says that the three men, who are currently serving time in different prison units, will be released to law enforcment officers once a bench warrant is delivered to the wardens of their units.

Justices reject artificial insemination argument

The Texas 3rd Court of Appeals on Friday, March 16, 2012, denied an appeal brought by Allan Eugene Keate, 60, of his 2009 conviction for child rape for which he is currently serving 33 years in the Texas prison system.
A three-judge panel, consisting of Chief Justice J. Woodfin Jones and Justices Bob Pemberton and Diane Henson, dismissed all 32 points raised in the appeal, including the claim that state prosecutors failed to eliminate the possibility that Keate’s underage victim became pregnant by artificial insemination.

 

Nielsen convicted on 3 bigamy counts

Wendell Loy Nielsen, 71, was found guilty Wednesday morning, March 28, 2012, on three counts of felony bigamy. A Midland County jury deliberated just over an hour before returning the verdict.

 

Nielsen trades probation for 10-year prison sentence

It took jurors less than 2 hours on Wednesday, March 28th, to find Wendell Loy Nielsen, 71, guilty on three counts of bigamy, each a third degree felony. The charges stemmed from Nielsen’s so-called “celestial” marriages to three women at the Yearning For Zion Ranch outside of  Eldorado.

 

 

3rd Court dismisses Warren Jeffs’ appeal

Warren Jeffs’ appeal of his child rape conviction was dismissed last week by the Texas Third Circuit Court of Appeals in ruling written by Chief Justice J. Woodfin Jones and handed down on March 29th.
