The Eldorado Eagles defeated the Reagan County Owls 71-63 Tuesday night to force a play-inn for 2nd Place in the district.


Eloy Bustos and Mason Baker each scored 17 to lead the Eagles on the offensive end of the court. Michael Rubio hit for 13, Nathan Jimenez scored 12, Joseph Rubio hit for 8 while Josh Jurecek and Miles Mikeska each added 2 to round out the scoring for the Eagles.


Eldorado broke on top early and led 15-4 after at the end of the opening quarter. Warbirds continued to outscore the Owls in the second quarter and led 37-23 at the intermission.


Eldorado widened the lead to 59-44 after three quarters then took their foot off the gas.


Reagan County staged a comeback in the final stanza but could not close the gap as the Eagles held on to take the 71-63 win.


The Eagles, who lost 80-60 to the league leading Iraan Braves last Friday night needed Tuesday night’s win to claim a share of 2nd in the district.


And, while Eldorado and Reagan County are both in the playoffs, they will square off again this Friday to determine the playoff seedings.
