Eldorado Varsity teams placed 2nd as a team. The Varsity boys team total was 125, Junior Varsity Boys team total 127, and Varsity girls team total was 126.

EMS tracksters compete at Cougar Relays
Eldorado Middle School participated in the 2012 Christoval Cougar Relays, March 1st. Other schools participating were: Christoval, Irion County, Water Valley, Bronte, Menard and TLCA.
Eldorado 8th Grade Boys team won first place with a score of 138. 7th grade boys team placed 2nd with a score of 80.
Eldorado 7th grade girls team placed 1st with a score of 172 and 8th grade girls as a team placed 6th.

Marissa Gonzales qualifies for State Powerlifting Meet
Marissa Gonzales will be advancing to State Girls Powerlifting after receiving a bronze medal for earning 3rd place in the 148 Class Weight Division with a total score of 775 pounds.
Gonzales was ranked 3rd in Region 1, Division 3 before heading for the Regional meet. Gonzales Squat totaled 325 lbs. Bench Pressed 140 lbs and Dead Lifted 325 lbs at the Regional Powerlifting Meet held in Monahans this past Saturday.
Gonzales 3rd place standing earned her a trip to the State Powerlifting Meet in Corpus Christi on March 17th.
Kiki Rodriguez and JayLynn Vargas also advanced to the Regional Meet, but will not advance to state.
Kiki Rodriguez place 6th in the 132 lb Class Weight Division. Rodriguez Squat total was 260 lbs; Bench Pressed 100 lbs; Dead Lift 250 lbs with a total weight of 610 lbs. Rodriguez was ranked 7th in the 132 lb Class Weight Division before ending her powerlifting season.
JayLynn Vargas placed 8th in the 114 lb Class Weight Division. Vargas Squat totaled 185 lbs; Bench Press 105 lbs and Dead Lift weight was 230 lbs for total weight of 520 lbs. Vargas was ranked 8th in the 114 lb Class Weight Division before ending her powerlifting season.
Eagles drop two of three over weekend in local baseball tourney
The Eldorado Eagles baseball team rolled over the TLC Academy Eagles 9-8 in the opening round of the Eldorado Baseball Tournament last week but dropped the next two games to finish out of contention in the tourney.
Edward Hernandez walked to reach base for the Eagles in the first inning of the TLCA game. He then stole second. Jacob Sanchez was the next batter up and he also walked. Hernandez and Sanchez then came home when Hector Reyes belted a double. Reyes then stole third then topped that by stealing home to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead in the opening stanza.
The Warbirds added four more runs in the 3rd inning and two more in the 5th to secure the 9-8 win over TLCA.
Game two was another thing altogether as the Sonora JV pounded the Eagles 12-3.
The Warbirds had a bit more luck against the Wall JV, but still came out on the short end of a 12-8 score.
Lady Eagles claim Bi-District crown
UPDATE: Send Off for Lady Eagles at 1:45 p.m. Friday.
The Eldorado Lady Eagles rolled to a 68-21 win over the El Paso Harmony Lady Tigers Tuesday night in the Bi-District round of the State 1A Playoffs.
Miranda Arispe led scoring for the Lady Eagles who took and early lead and never looked back. Arispe counted for 18 of the team’s 68 points. Eldorado led 22-4 at the end of the first period of play in the game played in Kermit.
The Lady Eagles swarming defense played as big a role in the victory as the team’s high-flying offense.
Arispe, Valeria Ortiz and McKenzie McAngus each scored in double digits for the Lady Eagles who led 37-12 at the half. Coach Benny Lockhart kept his team focused in the second half of the game, even as he rotated his starters out of the game and brought in reserves from the bench.
The girls led 51-14 after three quarters of play and coasted to the 68-21 victory.
Arispe counted for 15 of her 18 points in the first half and sat down early as the team cruised to a win.
Ortiz and McAngus each counted for 10 points, Abby Fuentes and Arden Mertz each hit for eight points, Melissa Hernandez made seven points.
Payton Lockhart drained a three-pointer in the second period. Marissa Gonzales and Brianda Torres each made two points in the game.
Coach Lockhart praised the play of his team after the contest.
He said the girls will now begin preparing for their toughest game of the year as they face the Smyer Lady Cats in Big Spring on Friday night.
The teams will square off in Dorothy Garrett Coliseum, located on the campus of Howard College in Big Spring. Tip off is slated for 6 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to make the trip to Big Spring and support the high-flying Lady Eagles.
