Five members of the Eldorado Lady Eagles softball team were singled out for post-season honors. Freshman Miranda Arispe was named Newcomer of the Year and Aubrey Martinez, a senior, was named to the 1st Team squad as a Short Stop.
Allyson Jarrett, a junior, made the 2nd Team at 1st Base. Amy Alvizo, also a junior, was named to the 2nd Team squad at pitcher. Meanwhile, sophomore Abbie Fuentes was named to the 2nd Team at 3rd Base.
The Eldorado Eagles placed seven players on the All-District baseball team, including Garrett Lux who was named 1st Team Pitcher and Mason Baker, who earned 1st Team Outfield honors in his first season to play high school baseball.
Second Team honors went to J.R. Martinez at Pitcher, Anthony Mata as an Infielder and Catcher Nathan Jimenez.
All three teams in the San Angelo Storm Elite Girl’s Basketball Club medaled at the MAYB Tournament in Austin May 8th and 9th. The 6th grade and the high school teams each took home third place medals, and the 8th grade team placed first.
San Angelo Storm Elite, in its inaugural year, is an AAU Club. The goal of the organization is to help girls to improve their basketball skills and provide opportunities for area players to challenge themselves by playing outside the Concho Valley. Tournaments are scheduled through July.
The 2010 Sports Banquet was held Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Schleicher County Civic Center. The event was hosted by the Eldorado Booster Club. The opening prayer was given by senior Ivany Sanchez.
Athletic Director Danny Wilhem emceed the evenings events.
Awards and recognitions were given by each coach for Junior Varsity and Varsity sports. Special awards were also announced with Most Valuable Player and Most Dedicated Players with the recipients being chosen by their peers in each sport.
The Eldorado Eagles traveled 220 miles Saturday to take on the Ben Bolt Badgers in Crystal City. The game was supposed to be played in Bandera, but torrential rains moved the contest south to Crystal City.
The Eagles found the going tough on the hot and muggy diamond at Javelina Field.

The games were played Friday, May 7th and Saturday, May 8th at the Freddy Ezell softball complex in Midland.
