ELDORADO — Opal Parks, 90, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010 in a San Angelo nursing home. Visitation was Sunday, April 25 at Kerbow Funeral Home in Eldorado. Funeral service was held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Mertzon Highway Church of Christ in Eldorado. Burial followed in Eldorado Cemetery.
Opal Parks was born to Oliver and Laura Epps Turner on November 26, 1919 in Huron, Texas in Hill County. She married Ward Covington Parks, Jr. on May 10, 1936 and resided in Eldorado for 67 years before moving to San Angelo in 2003.
She was a loving wife and mother who was very involved in her children's activities, her church and volunteer work with the hospital auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Shirley June and a son, Donald. Also by three brothers, James Paul, Billie D., and Melvin Eugene Turner.
She is survived by one sister, Hazel King of Ft. Worth, one son, Gary T. Parks and one daughter, Letha Ann Warren and husband Ron of San Angelo, one granddaughter, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
