ELDORADO — Wilma Jean Logan, age 74, peacefully passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, at her home in Eldorado surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services was Monday, March 8, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Eldorado officiated by Steve Rowe with interment at the Eldorado Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were provided by Kerbow Funeral Home.

Wilma was born Jan. 21, 1936, in Paint Rock, Texas to L.E. Lloyd and Alma Hoffman Lloyd. She grew up on the farm in Schleicher County, graduated from Eldorado High School in 1954 and attended the University of Texas at Austin.

Wilma married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Fred James Logan Jr. on Feb. 1, 1958. Wilma and James were blessed with 3 wonderful children; Teresa June in 1959, Benny Jay in 1960, and Margie Jean in 1964.

 

Sadly, Wilma and James' life together was cut short when James passed away on June 11, 1970, after a lengthy illness. Wilma was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eldorado. Wilma was a very unique, strong and independent ranch woman who loved her family very much. She immensely enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. She loved to fish, play games, cards and especially dominoes. Family gatherings always included a game of 42 or spades. Wilma had a wonderful attitude and refused to let her illness prevent her from enjoying life and her family. She was a fighter until the end and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include daughter Teresa Logan Poynor of Eldorado, son Benny Logan and wife Peggy of Ozona, daughter Margie Logan Harter and husband Chad of Kyle; 3 brothers, Earl Lloyd and wife Lora Mae of Eldorado, Harold Lloyd and wife Helen of New Braunfels and David Lloyd and wife Pat of Eldorado; 7 grandchildren, Clay Butler and wife Joy, Casey Poynor, Megan Poynor, Brandon Logan and wife Stephanie, all of San Angelo, Jayce and Murray Logan of Ozona and Bailey Logan of Wall; 3 great-grandchildren, Taven and Paris Espinosa and Rhett Butler, all of San Angelo and numerous other family members that were all dear to Wilma.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Fred James Logan Jr., parents L.E. and Alma Lloyd, and sister Retha Nell Lloyd Hasty. Pallbearers were Cory Lloyd, Matt Lloyd, Clay Butler, Casey Poynor, Kelly Kerr, Glyn Suddeth, Brandon Logan and Leonard Lloyd.

Family requests that memorial donations be made to the  American Cancer Society , Hospice of San Angelo or the charity of your choice. The family of Wilma Logan would like to express their gratitude to the compassionate caregivers of the Hospice of San Angelo for the exceptional care and kindness shown during this difficult time.
