ELDORADO — Ama Lola went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009. She was born on Nov. 9, 1918, in Del Rio, Texas, to Jose DeLa Rose and Dionicia Brown. Ama Lola was raised in San Angelo, Texas, and later moved to Eldorado, Texas, after she married Francisco Garza on July 22, 1942. Together they owned and operated Garza Grocery for over 30 years.

She loved sewing and quilting and having her family around her. Ama Lola was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, her husband Franciso Garza and by her daughter, Gloria Garza Rodriguez.

Ama Lola is survived by her children, Eliseo and wife Ana Maria Cardona, and Enedina and husband Jesus Zenneno, all of San Jose, Calif., Salvador and wife Yolanda Garza of Los Banos, Calif., Julia and husband Paul Kilgore of Lillburn, Ga., Elena and husband Fernando Mejia, and Esther and husband Albert Torres, all of Eldorado, Texas; sisters, Lupe Mata of Snyder, Texas, and Rosa Enriquez of Washington; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

 

Mass of Resurrection was held Saturday, Aug. 29, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Eldorado. Burial followed in the Schleicher County Cemetery.

The family would like to express its gratitude to all of the caretakers at the Eldorado Hospital, Schleicher County Nursing Home, and Hospice who gave their time and love in caring for Ama Lola.
