SAN ANGELO — Billie Jean Woodward McAlpine, 87, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 7, 2013, in Johnson’s Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Harold Watkins officiating. Burial followed in Eldorado, Texas.

 

Billie was born Oct. 10, 1925, in San Saba, to O.L. and Iva Woodward. In her early years,

 

Billie was employed by M System Food Stores where she was a favorite checker. Later, she worked for Ethicon where she made many lifelong friends.

One of the many joys of her life was caring for many elderly people in San Angelo and the West Texas area.

Billie is survived by her daughter, Carol Dimmitt; and her son, Mike McAlpine and his wife, Kathy. She also leaves behind one brother, Mutt Woodward. Grandchildren include Lori Denman and her husband, Jason, Greg McIntyre and his wife, Janine, Christi Hernandez and her husband, Edward, Melissa Terrell and her husband, Doug, and Wade Youngblood and Desirae Watson.

Billie is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ruth Taylor and Pauline Smith; brothers Burl Woodward and Jimmy Woodward; and her husband, Pat McAlpine.

Among the pallbearers were Greg McIntyre, Jonathan Youngblood, Doug Terrell, Edward Hernandez, Edward Cundiss and Jason Denman. Honorary pallbearers were Cal Hengst, Roger Henjum, Jerry Bowden, Tony Jones and Bob Hicks.
