Eldorado — Frances Thompson Peters passed away June 24, 2012 in Sanford, North Carolina in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Neal Heflin.
Frances was born March 7, 1925 in San Angelo, Texas to Luke and Frances Thompson.
She spent almost 84 years of her life in Eldorado. After graduating as salutatorian from Eldorado High School, she worked in various positions in the community, including secretary at the High School, and then spent thirty-three years at the First National Bank, retiring in 1991.
During World War II she met the love of her life, Elmer (Pete) Peters. They married on January 12, 1946 and were married for fifty-seven years. In addition to their daughter, Kay, they also had one son, Ken.
Frances was an active member of the First Methodist Church and served her church as treasurer for many years. Her other community activities included membership in the hospital auxiliary and serving on the Board of Directors for The Way Off Broadway Players.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, her son, her parents and her brother, Luke (Bubba) Thompson Jr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, her special daughter-in-law, Lesa Ritter and husband Duane, granddaughter, Whitney Heflin
Moss and husband Marcus; grandsons Scott Heflin, Dustin Peters and wife Crystal, Ross Peters and wife Ginger. She was the very proud great grandmother of Parker and Jackson Moss and Mia Tercero and Breyson Peters. She also leaves behind four nieces and a nephew, as well as a myriad of friends in the home town she loved so dearly.
Frances was a devoted and faithful servant to her God and to her family and friends.
She was happiest when in the role of doing something for others.
Visitation with the family will be at Kerbow Funeral Home on Friday between 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Eldorado at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by a graveside service.
