Was born on May 21,1950 to Jose and Louisa Romero and was raised by grandparents Pablo and Cathrina Romero.

He served in the army from 9-8-69 to 3-19-72. His military rank was a E-4 specialist, his military job was a combat engineer and a heavy equipment operator. He served in Vietnam War and  was very  proud to serve his country.

He survived by his wife Sherry, the mother of his children and friend Mary R. Grimaldo, a son David Gauna and his wife Consuela, two daughters Marylou Covarrubiaz and husband Joaquin, Natalie and husband Frank Garza. Extended children Shane Chriswell and wife Misty of Menard, Rusty Chriswell and wife Misty, D.J Chriswell and wife Tammy.

 

Grandchildren: Madalynn Gauna, David Tirado and wife Alex, Sydney, C.J, Jackie and Jason Covarrubiaz, Eric, Justin, and Lonnie Estrada. One great grandson Hector Ray Tirado. Extended grandchildren: Kodie, Kaliegh, Jaton (Reba), and Pancho.

Special Sister’s Lidia Salazar, Louisa Cowart, Rosa Lock, and Maria Martinez.
Boots also had many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his brothers Ray, Paul, Arthur, Tacho and Ben Romero. Also, brother- in- laws Onesimo “Shorty” Salazar and Jimmy Coward.

Boots was a very unique, strong, and proud man who loved his family and friends.   He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.  He took great pride in his grandchildren and great grandson.

The family of “Boots” would like to express their gratitude to the compassionate and care giving of Hospice of San Angelo.

Services will be on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at The Cemetery Chapel at 11:00a.m.
