Fannie Elizabeth (Sellman) Wade passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2011 in Junction, Tx., where she had been residing after a recent stay in the hospital. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sonora. Burial will follow in Sonora Cemetery.

Fannie was born on the 11th day of December, 1924 in McCulloch Co., Tx. near the town of Brady, to John Thomas (Johnny) Sellman and Myrtle Dulcina (Burk) Sellman. The Sellman family moved to Sutton Co., Tx. in 1930, where Johnny and Myrtle estabilished ranching operations. Fannie spent the rest of her life as a resident of Sutton County. A major accomplishment in the life of Fannie was her being named the valedictorian of the Sonora High School class of 1942. She later attended business school in San Angelo, Tx. Fannie married Bill Wade of Eldorado, Tx. on September 18, 1946.

Together they operated the Sellman Ranch in Sutton County, with the ranch eventually becoming known as the Sellman-Wade Ranch . Fannie never worked outside of the home, but as everyone familiar with her knows, she put in a life's worth of overtime being a dutiful and loving wife and mother. Because of this, her family never suffered for want of anything. Fannie never met a stranger, and always had an open hand, and heart, for a friend in need. She was kind and caring with all animals, and raised numerous "fat and happy" pets during her lifetime. She made sure that her children, and grandchildren, always got the very best she could provide, many times doing without herself. She was born of the country, with country ways, and she passed those ways down to her descendants. May her spirit live forever through them. Fannie was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Sonora, Tx. She was always ready with cards and prayers for fellow parishoners in times of need. She leaves behind many fellow church members and friends in the Sonora community to mourn her. Fannie was preceded in death by her father Johnny(1891-1944), mother Myrtle(1893-1981), brother Richard Thomas Sellman(1926-1995), husband Bill(1922-1993), and son Joseph Michael Wade(1952-1952).

Fannie is survived by her daughter Vera Elizabeth (Wade) Joy and husband Preston of Roosevelt, Tx., son John Richard Wade and wife Sarah of Sonora,Tx. and son William Patrick Wade and wife Linda of San Antonio, Tx. She is survived by grandchildren Cash Joy and  Christy, Chane Joy and Ashley, Johnna Wade, Joseph Wade and Kylie, Jackie (Wade) Robinson and Will, Lisa Wade, and step-grandchildren Robert Hillin and Daniel Hillin and wife Carissa.
