Betty Lynn Autrey SmithBetty Lynn Autrey Smith, 78 (Granny Betty)of Eldorado Texas, passed away in her home Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, surrounded by her children who loved her very much.

She was born July 1, 1932 in Ballinger, Texas to E. Cleburne and Verna Lee Autrey. She graduated from San Angelo High School, class of 1950. She was raised in San Angelo and lived the majority of her life in the San Angelo area.  She called Eldorado, Texas home since 1995.

She loved her children, computer, old romance novels, crossword puzzles, gardening and fishing. She was very proud of her 14 years of work at the Schleicher County Senior Center and the Concho Valley RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program). She received several Presidents’ call to Service award pins and certificates of recognition for being a vital force in the future of the community and the nation through understanding and compassionate service.

Betty was a very special person who had a wonderful sense of humor. Her wisdom and wit will carry on through her children who loved her very much. She was absolutely one of a kind and will be missed by everyone that knew her!

She is survived by: Sons, Thomas Burow & wife, Sheila of Jacksonville Beach, FL; Michael Beard & wife, Tresa of Wimberley, TX. & Daughters: Deby Burnett of Abilene, TX; Melody Holland & husband, Calvin of Comfort, TX. Regina Gray & husband, David of Abilene, TX; & a very dear family friend, Carol Gault of Eldorado, TX. Grandchildren: Todd & Galen Burow; Shay Blackwood Wade & husband Jace; Ken Robinson & wife, Sarah; Courtney Robinson; Shannon Holland. Great Grandchildren: Tristyn & Anna Robinson, Jenessa & Gannon Wade; Sarah Jane Holland; Dakota, Zachary, Madelyn Dabney.
Memorial Service was held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Schleicher County Senior Center, 106 E. Gillis Ave.,in Eldorado, TX.)
