Rollin Alon (Bud) Haynes

Rollin Alon (Bud) Haynes, 83, of Mertzon, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was born in Clay Center, Kansas on April 30, 1927 and was welcomed into heaven on October 13, 2010.  The only child of Raymond and Mildred Haynes, Bud and his family traveled across Kansas with the Salvation Army, which was the basis of his life-long faith.

Bud married his wife, Shirley, on May 23, 1949 and they shared 61 years of marriage.   Together they had four children, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In 1948, Bud began a life-long career with Northern Natural Gas, working in Kansas, Eldorado, Andrews, and Big Lake.  He retired in 1982, from his final position as Operations and Maintenance Manager.   Following his retirement, Bud and Shirley moved to Mertzon where he took on a variety of “post-retirement” projects such as caretaker for the cemetery, EMS ambulance driver, and substitute minister for the church.

 

Daisy Mikeska

Daisy Mikeska, 78, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on October 5, 2010. Daisy was born November 1, 1931 in San Angelo, Texas. Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of fifty-seven years, Wayne Mikeska.

Her children were the joy of her life: son Lanis Mikeska and wife, Lynna of Eldorado; daughter Janis Wilkerson and husband, Shannon of Eldorado; and son Mike Mikeska of San Angelo. Beloved grandchildren include: Miles and Macy Mikeska; Mitch Wilkerson and wife, Courtney; Cole Wilkerson and fiancee, Codi Waldrep; and Margo Mikeska. Other family members include sisters, Elaine Boykin, Ann Lossing, twin sister Doris Yeary, Virginia Perry, Lucille Murphy, Linda Day, and brother Boley Brodnax. Daisy will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family friends.

 

Eugenia Teierina

Eugenia Tejerina, 86, was born in Pflugerville, TX on August 6, 1924 and passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, in Desoto, TX.

Visitation was held Thursday, September 23, 2010, from 10:00AM - 9:00PM. Rosary was  7:00PM on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Gonzalez Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral was held at 10:00AM Friday, September 23, 2010, at Santa Clara Catholic Church in Dallas. Interment was at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her loving companion of 33 years Olegario Guana. She is survived by: Her loving daughters, Virginia Barron (Jose), Estella Almazan (Canuto), Guadalupe Romo (Hector), sons, Joseph Tijerina (Margaret) and Alfonso Valadez; 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, & 12 great-great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

 

Maudie Louise Mitchell-Short

Maudie Louise Mitchell-Short passed away on Monday, August 16, 2010. She was born on July 31, 1942, in San Angelo, Texas, to Jerome and Fern Mitchell. She is preceded in death by her parents, younger brother, Alton Roy Mitchell, and two half-brothers, Glendon Aldridge and Rubel Aldridge. She leaves behind her husband of forty-four years, Roy Short.  Her children are: Sandra Short Billingsley and husband, Michael; David Mitchell Short and wife, Martha; and Gretta Short McKissack and husband, Dudley. Her grandchildren are Abigail and Caleb Billingsley, and Madlyn, Jacob, and Ryan Short.  She also has a brother, Voy J. Mitchell and his wife, Marie, as well as two nieces and a nephew.

 

Robert W. 'Butch' Burns

Robert W. ‘Butch’ Burns, 61, of Stephenville, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 in Fort Worth. Funeral services were held Wednesday, at First Baptist Church in Stephenville with Derrel Thompson officiating. Masonic Graveside Rites will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday at Mixon Cemetery in Mixon Texas.

Robert was born August 21, 1948 in Jacksonville, Texas to the late Floyd Evan and Lou Ella Dry Burns. He married Jeanne Siros, December 9, 1967 in Mixon. Robert graduated from Troup High School, attended Gulf Coast Business College, University of Houston, received a certification in Community Relations from the Center of Corporate Community Relations at Boston College, and received his BS degree from Tarleton State University.

 

 

Alvis Ray "Bus" Enochs

Alvis Ray “Bus” Enochs was born in Eldorado, Texas on January 9, 1914 to Jeff and Myrtle Enochs as the third of their eight children. He died July 22, 2010 in Eldorado, Texas at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 13 days.
Young “Bus” was interested in horses, dogs, hunting and fishing and all things cowboy. Many of his best days were spent on hunting or fishing trips with friends.
