SAN ANGELO — Billie Jean Woodward McAlpine, 87, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013, following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 7, 2013, in Johnson’s Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Harold Watkins officiating. Burial followed in Eldorado, Texas.
SEGUIN — Mary Josephine Parrent Woodward was born July 26, 1920, Colgate, Oklahoma and died March 1, 2013 in Seguin, Texas. Jo was the oldest of five daughters born to William Franklin Parrent and Lottie Ella Griffin Parrent.
Funeral services for Roberta “ Nanny Bert” Lee, age 92 of Eldorado, Texas were held Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at M.S. Doss Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor La Void Ford officiating. Burial followed at Gaines County Cemetery, and all services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
John Ford Oglesby Jr. passed away Saturday February 9, 2013 at a local hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday February 12, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be Tuesday at 3:00 P.M. in Eldorado Cemetery.
Eldorado-Ruth Evalyn Wright Davis was born October 27, 1923 to Lawrence and Lydia Wright. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in the Schertz Community near Wall, Texas. Ruth married Weldon Davis on August 2, 1943. She was a homemaker and spent a lot of time helping Weldon on the farm.
Ruth fiercely loved the Lord and her life reflected her strong personal relationship with Him. She will always be remembered for her beautiful poetry and eloquent prayers. Ruth had many happy memories of church picnics, playing 42 and Skip-Bo with friends, camp meetings at Paisano, and spending time with family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Weldon, and her four-year-old great-grandson, Max.
She is survived by son J.L. Davis and wife Nancy of Wall, two daughters, Jacque and husband Charlie Wilson of Pearsall and Janet and husband B.J. Rutledge of Paradise, eight grandchildren, Jana and husband John Kennick, James Wilson, Jeremy Rutledge, Julie and husband Chris Hurst, Josh and wife Hannah Rutledge, Janay and husband Bradley Morgan, Kelsey and fiance Aaron Wilson, and Blake and wife Tammy Thomas, as well as nine great-grandchildren.
Ruth is also survived by one brother, Lawrence Wright and wife Nancy of San Angelo and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, January 8 at the First Baptist Church of Eldorado with burial to follow in Eldorado Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kerbow Funeral Home. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Liz Fuentes for all her help these last few years.
