The Eldorado High School golf team held off a stiff challenge from the Iraan and Panhandle teams to place 2nd at the Region 1A Golf Tournament and claim a berth in the State Golf Tourney on May 2 - 3 at the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.
Individual scores and placings were not available at press time.
Four teams competed in the tournament which was played in two rounds.
The Eagles two-round score  was 712. That was good enough to place 2nd behind the Rankin Red Devils team that shot a combined score of 676.
The score also placed the Eagles ahead of Iraan and Panhandle by a single stroke. Those two teams returned to the course for a playoff to determine which of them would qualify for state as the 3rd Place team.
